There's an impressive programme of classes in the Equine Section at Athlone Agricultural Show this year. Over 100 Classes across 7 Rings including Broodmares and Foals, Young Horses, In Hand Connemara Ponies, Irish Draughts, Ridden Ponies, Ridden Connemara Ponies, Cobs, Family Pony Classes, Working Hunter, Ridden Horses and Donkeys. 

We are hosting THREE Qualifiers for the Dublin Horse Show INTERMEDIATE SIDE SADDLE, LADIES SIDE SADDLE and RACEHORSE TO RIDING HORSE sponsored by The Irish Racehorse Trainers Association along with many qualifiers for the ISA All Ireland Championships 2026. New for 2026 is the JUNIOR SIDE SADDLE CLASS, affiliated with Side Saddle Ireland.

A new competition this year, presented by ATHLONE AGRICULTURAL SHOW is the MARE AND FOAL CHAMPIONSHIP, €5'000 kindly sponsored by Jim Derwin Equestion.
